Introduction and Recap of the Week

[00:00:00] Crystal Waddell: Well, hey guys. Welcome back to another episode of the Simple and Smart SEO show podcast. I'm your host, Crystal Waddell, and this is Follow through Fridays. Woo. It has been a busy and crazy week, right? And as I re-listened to this past week's episode, it reminded me of why I wanted to start this podcast in the first place.

[00:00:20] SEO sounds so complicated, but it doesn't have to be.

The Power of SEO and Content Creation

[00:00:25] Crystal Waddell: Wednesday show was all about content briefs. And the process of creating them.

[00:00:30] Is this a nice to have step if you have the time and money to invest in it? Probably maybe. I don't really know. I don't have that kind of time or money.

[00:00:38] But the small business takeaway is that if you, the owner and developer of your business are the one that is writing for your website.

[00:00:46] You don't need all of that to be successful.

[00:00:48] But exhibit A: my top blog or article on my website. And I use those two words interchangeably.

[00:00:53] They mean the same thing, blog, article, whatever.

[00:00:57] In Exhibit A, my top blog article on my website, which I'll link in the show notes.

[00:01:02] And I'm not necessarily super proud of it, but when it's working, you don't mess with it.

[00:01:08] But my top traffic driving article is one that I wrote a few years before I had ever heard of Chat GPT or even SEO.

[00:01:17] It reminds me of my ugly pins on Pinterest that people keep liking and repinning.

[00:01:22] I'm like, why are you clicking that?

[00:01:24] But my point is, even though that blog post isn't the most beautiful or well formatted.

[00:01:29] It ranks number one for senior night searches, and it shows up as something called a featured snippet on Google.

[00:01:35] And a featured snippet shows up at the top of the page and answers the question that somebody types into the search bar.

[00:01:41] And yes, people still click through to my website to learn more. A lot of people are nervous, like if they get a featured snippet, that that'll take their traffic away.

[00:01:50] That could be possible, but you know, it could also mean that it actually gets their attention and gets them to click through.

[00:01:55] Which I'm fortunate, that's the case for me.

Success Stories: SEO in Action

[00:01:57] Crystal Waddell: So anyway, I shipped out $2,500 worth of products this weekend and I'm exhausted.

[00:02:02] And just so you know, I spend less than a dollar a day on one engagement ad on Facebook that happens to retarget the people who visit that particular blog that I'm talking about.

[00:02:12] SEO drives so much traffic, so much revenue, so much business to my website.

[00:02:19] I share all about how you can build your business around SEO in my monthly membership, the SEO squad.

[00:02:24] And something cool that happened this week is that one of our members, Sarah.

[00:02:29] Got a sale from Google and her website reached 300 clicks per month.

[00:02:34] And when you start paying attention to your SEO, Google will send you little updates and rewards and encouragement as your clicks reach certain milestones.

[00:02:42] But moral of the story, you have what it takes to do the same. And I'd love to help you.

Closing Thoughts and Preview of Next Episode

[00:02:51] Crystal Waddell: And lastly, my follow up task for myself this week. Was to find time to rest and relax. We are not machines, but we do need to take time and recharge from time to time.

[00:03:03] So I hope that you are writing for your website.

[00:03:06] I hope that you check out the SEO squad and I look forward to seeing you next week when we chat with Sophia Vega, who is a small business SEO, who has lots of great information to share.

[00:03:19] See you then.
